About this resource

Summer Innovate is a 5-day faculty professional development institute held the first week of June. It is a deep dive into teaching innovation: exploring new strategies and tools, practicing with time to build improved course materials, and designing more meaningful, engaging class time that meets students where they are. Use case: Any campus can run Summer Innovate as a structured week with daily themes (discover, design, build, test, refine), shared resources, and hands-on lab time. Faculty leave with ready-to-use course modules, assessments, and engagement activities aligned to student success. Faculty Summer Innovate is a five-day summer institute for faculty who want time to build better courses. Participants explore new teaching innovations, practice with tools, and develop content, activities, and assessments that make class time more meaningful and engaging for students. The goal is to meet students where they are and design student-centered learning experiences.

Equity considerations

Make participation accessible: offer hybrid attendance, provide recordings and transcripts, and share templates so faculty can apply ideas on their own schedule. Ensure tools used are compatible with assistive technologies and avoid assuming prior technical expertise. We intentionally design activities that work across devices and learning preferences, provide guidance for accessible content and tools, and encourage faculty to bring multiple examples and perspectives. We also emphasize transparency about AI use and accountability through human review.
